Driver Training for 2007 On-Highway Engines With the launch of the 2007 on-highway engines, Cummins has developed a number of tools for use in helping familiarize customers with what they need to know in regard to the 2007 products. While these tools have been developed for general use, the customer interface with specific dash lamps may vary with each OEM. Please direct customers to their Operator Manuals for specific details as needed. Cummins Radio CD This video is intended to provide a high-level overview of the proper procedure for conducting a Stationary (Parked) Regeneration. Please consult your Cummins Owner's Manual for complete details on how to perform a Parked Regeneration, as well as necessary safety precautions. This video runs approximately 6 minutes. It is recommended that you right click on the link and save the file to your hard drive prior to viewing. Download Cummins Engine Driver Tip Card The Driver Tip Card has been updated to help answer driver questions about differences between previous Cummins engines and the new Cummins 2007 products. The front page of the tip card primarily covers driver observations, fuel economy through shifting techniques, and fuel and oil requirements for 2007. The back page describes the dash lamps in relationship to the new aftertreatment system. The Cummins Driver Tip card is available to assist drivers in their awareness and actions required in relationship to new sounds, odors, and engine operation. Though the 2007 product is different, most of the observed changes are "normal" and we want to be sure the driver knows this, so the driver can stay on the road and not in the shop. We need to convey to the operator that a 2007 Cummins engine is actually not very different than previous years. Get in and drive is part of the Cummins message. Cummins Particulate Filter Created to help customers understand a high-level of information about the aftertreatment system for their EPA-07 on-highway engines, a Cummins Particulate Filter flyer and poster are available. The flyer and poster both feature a cutaway graphic of the Cummins Particulate Filter with a high-level overview of the function of the system. Additionally, the flyer explains how the system works, what the driver will see, and what actions are required by the driver. Click here to view a .pdf file of the Cummins Particulate Filter Flyer. The flyer is also available for order from your Cummins Distributor, Bulletin #4971129. Click here to view a .pdf file of the Cummins Particulate Filter Poster. The flyer is also available for order from your Cummins Distributor, Bulletin #4971135. Dash Lamp Audio File The Dash Lamp Audio CD/file is essentially the back page of the Cummins Engine Driver Tip Card - come to life! While some customers will need to be aware of dash lamps, keep in mind that some customers may seldom see them. Cummins recommends only sharing this audio CD/file with customers that have a need for this specific type of training. When considering whether or not to share the audio CD/file with end users, we ask that you first evaluate your customer's needs for driver training, as well as their application and duty cycle. Due to the frequency of seeing the dash lamps in certain applications, the need to share this with midrange customers may be greater than with some heavy duty customers. For example, a midrange pickup and delivery customer may benefit more from hearing this information than a heavy-duty on-highway customer. Cummins wants a customer to just get in and drive! Click here to download the Dash Lamp audio file. If the Dash Lamp Audio CD is appropriate for your customer, you can order from your Cummins Distributor using Bulletin #4971064.
